GWPSA received news of Michael Mutale’s passing on 20 June 2021 with deep shock. Michael’s dedication, passion, commitment and contribution to the water sector is well known within the SADC region, Africa, and globally. We have lost a true patriot, committed professional, and a dedicated champion of water.
The Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA), a partner in the Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco) project, was subcontracted to execute activities under project component 3 (policy & legislation). The Masungi Georeserve was announced winners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards in a ceremony at the Climate Adaptation Summit on 25 January. Their project is about restoring forgotten watersheds through youth-led movements. On 4 March the team behind the success joins us for a Facebook Live session to share their experiences.
The International Riversymposium is organised annually by the International RiverFoundation. The 2020 edition is being held virtually for the first time on 9-13 November.
The WACDEP-G regional Project manager, Mr. Yaovi KOGBE made a follow-up mission in Cotonou, Benin from 9 to 12 November 2021. The mission helped in preparing the final activities of the year to be implemented in the country.
From 26 to 29 November 2019, a tour was organized to disseminate at the local level, reviews on the management of the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation sectors. The results of the report on the mapping of integrity risks in the said sector were also shared in a separate meeting.
