The 2021 European River Symposium will focus on building connections between institutions, organizations and companies with an interest in rivers and whose activities affect the health and quality of river water and ecosystems.
In a series of inter-regional discussions, GWP Senior Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist Liza Debevec is investigating what GWP as an institution can do to apply gender equality and social inclusion in its practical work. From the GWP Gender Action Piece, published in 2017, she looks at the 4 action areas that were identified as key to progress. This month, she talked to Colin Herron and Fabiola Tábora about Action Area 2 – gender and inclusion analysis that drives change. Both Herron and Tábora are involved in finalizing complementary gender analyses in their respective areas of expertise – global and regional (Central America) – and they discuss how to use the findings to transform water resources management through gender mainstreaming.

A 3-part webinar series is held in February and March to strengthen climate and water linkages in national climate action plans such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and various investment mechanisms. The series is jointly organised by Cap-Net, UNDP, AGWA, SIWI, Water Governance Facility and GWP. It is the second webinar series organised on the theme water and climate - the first round of webinars were held in July 2020.
The Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean is seeking to hire a Senior Programme Officer to be based in Jordan. The successful candidate will be hired by the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), a civil non-profit society based in Greece, in its capacity as Host Institute for GWP-Med.
The executing partners of the project (WMO, VBA and GWP-WA) are planning to select technicians from each country in the Volta Basin, who will take part in the capacity building process, data collection and production of flood and drought risk maps for the Volta basin led by the partner CIMA.
