Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), the regional body of Global Water Partnership (GWP), is seeking applications for the recruitment of its Chairperson.
The Global Water Partnership aims at supporting countries in the sustainable management of their water resources with a view to achieving their development goals. GWP recognizes that the overall development goals of poverty eradication, social and economic well-being and protection of natural resources cannot be achieved if water resources are not managed in a sustainable manner.
Following the Adaptation Fund’s approval in June 2021 of the pre-concept note for the “Integrated Water Resources Management and Early Warning System for climate resilience in the Lake Chad Basin” project, the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), in collaboration with the GWP-Central Africa (GWP-CAf) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) organized a hybrid session of the first regional stakeholder consultation workshop in N’Djamena from February 21st – 22nd 2022.
The 5th edition of the Arab Water Forum is convened by the Arab Water Council on 21-23 September in Dubai, under the patronage of the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure and supported by the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, in collaboration with national, regional and international partners.
GWP South Asia celebrated the World Water Day 2021, by organising a regional webinar on “Sharing Country Level Experience and Lessons on Valuing Water” on 22 March 2021 from 14.00-16.00 hours (New Delhi time).
On 21 October 2021, GWP and GWPSA supported the National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP), implemented by UNEP and UNDP with funding from the Global Environment Facility, in convening a webinar which explored Integrating Climate Risks in the Water Sector” with a focus on National Adaptation Plan (NAP) formulation.
