The National Directorate of Water (DNH) together with the CWP Mali organized on May 17, 2021 the validation workshop of the provisional report of the study on the status of the operation of the National Water Council (CNE) of Mali and the new draft text of the CNE.
With over 54 shared river basins in Africa, 15 being in the SADC regions, cooperation in the management and development of transboundary water resources is key to economic growth and integration.

With this in mind and coupled with the fact that this year marks the 16th anniversary of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), in mid-June the organisation launched its “Theme Song Challenge.”
Eight African entries have qualified in the semi-finals of the Water ChangeMaker Awards, which were launched by GWP and partners in 2020 to recognise the teams and organisations who shape water decisions that build climate resilience.
In March 2021, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) will hold a Caribbean Science Symposium on Water; the first of its kind for the region. Its main theme will be “Building Resilience in the Regional Water Sector to Address Climatological and Hydrological Risks and Threats.”
In July 2020, a webinar series will be held on “Coordinating, Implementing, and Financing National Climate and Water Policy Frameworks”. It has been developed by Cap-Net, UNDP, Global Water Partnership, AGWA, SIWI, and the Water Governance Facility. The webinars will highlight and contribute to strengthening climate and water linkages in national frameworks such as NDCs, NAPs, and various investment mechanisms.
The application of the Water Energy Food Ecosystems Nexus approach to farming plots and the development of green business ideas of local youth from Ghar El Melh led to impressive results: water usage for irrigation was cut by 44%, crop productivity increased by 66%, while 4 new green startups launched their services successfully.
