In a bid to ensure that the Republic of Congo National Water and Sanitation Policy document takes into account all sectors related to water and directly addresses the challenges of the WASH sector in the country, the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources with the support of GWP-CAf and UNICEF organized a two day stakeholder consultation workshop from 25th – 26th November 2020 in Brazzaville.
Any experience on water management is worth to be shared, says Shamila Nair-Bedouelle, Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences of UNESCO: “Water managers need to understand the different journeys that have been taken, so that we collectively can promote sustainable water management.”

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has worked on water for food issues for over four decades, and therefore the decision to join the Water ChangeMaker Awards as a Knowledge Partner was a happy one, says Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director of IFPRI's Environment and Production Technology Division. The national technical workshops to review and consolidate the draft baseline analysis on Early Warning Systems (EWS) and related recommendations for the development of flood and drought risk maps and the establishment of an Early Warning System were held in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) on October 8 and 9, in Bamako (Mali) on October 27 and 28, 2020.
Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), in collaboration with the Permanent Secretariat of IWRM Plan (SP PANGIRE) of Niger and the Country Water Partnership of Niger (CWP-Niger), submitted to the Delegation of the European Union (DEU) in Niamey a request for financing of the Project "Water for growth and poverty reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger" (Mekrou Project 2 - Niger).
Mindful of the SDG 6.5.1 reporting deadline of July 31st, GWP-CAf and its five CWPs have been fully engaged with country focal points to ensure that the ongoing monitoring and reporting process is conducted as per the UNEP guidelines.
