The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has worked on water for food issues for over four decades, and therefore the decision to join the Water ChangeMaker Awards as a Knowledge Partner was a happy one, says Claudia Ringler, Deputy Division Director of IFPRI's Environment and Production Technology Division. According to her, all water decisions affect climate resilience in one way or another.
In Botswana, at the request of the Department of Water Affairs, GWP led the technical preparation of the country’s Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). This included the facilitation of stakeholder consultations and the coordination of demonstration projects on efficient water management solutions.
In Malawi, GWP provided long-term backing to the adoption of an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach to water management. This support included the development and implementation of a national IWRM and Water Efficiency (WE) plan to guide Malawi towards increased water security.
