8/2021/ADA Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP – Med), legally and lawfully represented by the non-profit society MEDITERRANEAN INFORMATION OFFICE FOR ENVIRONMENT, CULTURE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT – MIO ECSDE announces the present call for offers for the preparation and implementation of 2 online Gender Capacities Development Workshops in the Drina and Drin basins.

Since the end of June 2019, the Global Water Partnership for West Africa is implementing in collaboration with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) the project "Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin " (VFDM).

Caribbean WaterNet (Cap-Net UNDP), The Faculty of Food and Agriculture of The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine and the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), have worked together to produce two (2) Training Manuals intended to be of great value to the Caribbean region.

East Asia Summit (EAS) on Estuary Harnessing, Protection and Management is held on 26-30 August 2019, on the river basin of the Pearl River Delta in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China. The Pearl River Estuary is one of the beneficiaries for it achieves a balance between natural sustainability and economic development even located in the densely populated area with rapid economic growth.

Paraguay recently concluded a successful consultation workshop on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.1: Degree of Implementation of Integrated Management of Water Resources (IWRM). Paraguay is one of the countries that accepted support by GWP South America to carry out consultations on SDG 6.5.1. The first round of consultations started in 2016, and in Paraguay in 2017. Paraguay's 2020 consultation is one of many taking place worldwide to collect data and measure the progress made on IWRM.

For the first time since the establishment of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) in 2004, Belize has now become an official Partner country of the GWP-C. It is well-known that Belize is a country based in Central America but has maintained strong ties to the Caribbean, as part of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). Mainly due to the country’s geographical location, it fell under the GWP Central America Partnership.

GWP Partners are invited to the Annual Network Meeting of GWP Partners 2020, which takes place online on 21-22 October, under the theme ‘Bringing the Change’. This is an opportunity when Partners can learn from each other and exchange ideas with GWP. As part of the Network Meeting, the Partners have the opportunity to comment on the GWP in Action 2019 Annual Report and the GWP Annual Financial Report 2019.

We pushed the climate into unprecedented territory, and now is the time to act, says GWP Executive Secretary Darío Soto-Abril in a statement responding to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report. He stresses that to succeed in the battle against climate disaster, we need to work in unison.
