29 May 2021, the Junior Water Prize (JWP) Final was broadcast live to 900,000 audiences online. 15 teams of 13-18-year-old students from 8 provinces shared their innovative products and answered the jury to realize their innovative solutions to improve water and environment development. Zhan Hanchu and Huang Haoxing, Guangdong Experimental Middle School, won the award for their "voice-controlled water saving device”.
IHE Delft has held the 6th edition of the International Symposium on Knowledge and Capacity Development for the Water Sector. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the symposium – “From Capacity Development to Implementation Science” – was held online on 26-29 May, with around 500 participants from around the world. GWP is a Partner of the Symposium and hosted a session on ‘Reaching and engaging local communities.’ Recommendations from all sessions were fed into the Delft Agenda, finalised at the end of June and launched on 20 July.
World Wetlands Day is celebrated on 2 February every year to raise global awareness about the vital role of wetlands for people and our planet. The 2021 theme shines a spotlight on wetlands as a source of freshwater and encourages actions to restore them and stop their loss.

Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) together with GWP, UNICEF and WaterAid are co-convening a 3-part webinar series to strengthen partners’ knowledge of and capacity to integrate water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and climate policies, plans, action, and financing.
