The GWP Gender Action Piece was launched in 2017 with the aim to improve gender equality and social inclusion in water resources management. The publication captures the views of 40 experts from around the world and contains four clear action areas to serve as drivers for progress. New language versions are now available: French, Spanish, and Russian. A broader audience is expected to lead to a renewed boost in interest and action.

The COVID-19 outbreak has changed nearly every aspect of the lives of the world’s citizens. And every organisation’s way of doing business, including GWP’s, has been upended. During these difficult times, GWP’s unique global network and competencies are and will remain in keeping attention on the water security agenda. Natural resource management is closely linked to conflict management, prevention and resolution. Managing natural resources involves reconciling diverging interests that often lead to conflict, which can undermine management institutions and lead to exploitation, environmental destruction and deteriorating livelihoods. If conflicts turn violent, they can rip apart the entire fabric of society. Thus, managing conflicts in a peaceful manner is decisive not only for successful and sustainable resource management but for societal stability in general.

The handbook and toolkit can be used to support any participatory process aimed at sustainable resource and conflict management.

Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), the regional body of Global Water Partnership (GWP), is seeking applications for the recruitment of its Chairperson. The Global Water Partnership aims at supporting countries in the sustainable management of their water resources with a view to achieving their development goals. GWP recognizes that the overall development goals of poverty eradication, social and economic well-being and protection of natural resources cannot be achieved if water resources are not managed in a sustainable manner.

On 24 and 25 June 2020, CWP Benin initiated, the conduct of a diagnostic study on the monitoring function in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) carried out by non-state actors.

Ahead of the 6 October 2020 Strengthening Drought Resilience for Smallholder Farmers and Pastoralists in the IGAD Region (DRESS-EA) project launch, GWP Eastern Africa’s chair, Peter M. Macharia, shared his insights on the project's potential impact.

The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), in collaboration with IUCN, organised and held six (6) national capacity building workshops for Volta Basin stakeholders on Nature-based Solutions for the development of bankable projects and the mobilisation of funding for their implementation in national and Volta Basin-wide portions.

The Water Resources Commission (WRC), in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership - Ghana (CWP-Ghana) is conducting a review of the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) plans for the Pra and Tano Basins.
