Global Water Partnership and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are organising an online engagement session on 27 October for those who are currently enrolled – and those interested in enrolling – in the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Transboundary Freshwater Security. The topic of the session is ‘Does the world need more International Water Law?’
During the UNFCCC COP25 climate change conference in Madrid, GWP received news that it had passed the “Financial Management Capacity Assessment” (FMCA) of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This approval enables GWP to be a delivery partner of countries to access the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (the Readiness Programme).
GWP's annual Network Meeting 2019 took place 25-26 June. Based on the successful participation of so many Partners at last year’s meeting, an online ‘Follow the Sun’ consultation was also held this year. All GWP Partners were invited.
On May 28, the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Focal Point of the Nicaraguan Ministry of the Environment (MARENA) and the IWRM Commission, with the support of GWP, held a national consultation for the SDG 6.5.1 baseline - the degree of implementation of IWRM. This is part of GWP's global efforts to assist national stocktaking and reporting on IWRM.

As climate change and variability have increased the occurrence of disasters such as hurricanes, floods and droughts in the Caribbean region, governments have begun to give greater priority to disaster risk reduction (DRR) efforts. Many efforts are being made to build capacity, influence policies and develop strategies to better equip countries and their populations to become more resilient to water-related disasters.
