The year 2020 was challenging for the whole world. Despite the restrictions and overall uncertainty about the future, GWP CEE managed to achieve many great things. We are now offering you a quick recap of our highlights of 2020.
The Asia Region Online Workshop Supporting the Monitoring and Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) indicator 6.5.2 on Transboundary Water Cooperation is held virtually on 17 September. GWP is one of the partners behind the workshop.
The 2024 edition of GWP’s annual Network Meeting of GWP Partners will take place online on 8 October. This meeting will be an important step towards shaping GWP's 2026-2030 strategy.
The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are a powerful framework for laying out priorities for national climate action, with the potential to guide priorities such as building climate resilience and climate-resilient infrastructure. They can be developed into country-level strategies and/or approaches for mobilising finance for climate resilient infrastructure programmes and projects and for enhancing the necessary policy and regulatory frameworks. The first window of opportunity ahead is the submission of new or updated NDCs in 2020.
“Partnership as a driving force for achieving water security” is the motto of the competition organized by the Global Water Partnership for Central Asia and Caucasus to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Global Water Partnership.
GWP organised an online peer-to-peer learning exchange with leaders from its country platforms on 21 January. The event focused on how to mobilise and engage for stronger Country Water Partnerships (CWPs) and other GWP country platforms to amplify GWP's impact. It was also the launch event in a year-long celebration of GWP's 25th Anniversary.
