The journalists who won Water and Environment journalism competition were given their prizes on November 4, 2021, in the meeting room of the GWP-WA Secretariat in Ouagadougou.

The Country Water Partnership of Guinea (PNEGui) took part in the information and sensitization meeting of water stakeholders on the World Water Forum Dakar 2022 held in Conakry on March 04, 2021, under the chairmanship of Mr. Soufiana DABO, Coordinator of the OMVS (River Senegal Authority) Guinea.

The SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, coordinated by GWP in collaboration with the UN Environment-DHI Centre and UNDP Cap-Net, has facilitated a coordinated approach to monitoring and enhancing Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6.5, implementing Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). In 2019 four pilot countries were supported to create an IWRM Action Plan. Some lessons on how the experience gained can be put to practical use in other countries have now been captured in a summary report.

Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) is one of 13 Regional Water Partnerships and the oldest network of GWP. GWP-SEA has strong regional networks and partners in all sectors as well as Country Water Partnerships (CWPs). Today there are CWPs in all 8 countries in the region, namely Lao PDR, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. These CWPs have growing number of GWP partners who represent a wide diversity of sectors e.g. water management, agriculture, education, environment, professional organizations, development banks, rural & community development organizations, government institutions, NGOs, INGOs and so forth.

The session on “From Source to Delta: Collaboration with urban and agricultural stakeholders” was held on 4 December 2019 from 10.30-12 noon at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The NGO WaterAid organized a workshop in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso on March 30, 2021, bringing together key actors involved in the advocacy for climate resilient WASH services.

Africa is particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change due to a number of interlinked challenges, including land degradation, poverty, and extreme weather events. The continent also has a low adaptive capacity, in part due to financial and technical constrains, and a heavy reliance on rain-fed agriculture.
