China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR) is devoted to excellence in teaching, learning, and research, and to developing leaders in water and water relevant sectors who make a difference nationally, regionally or globally. Global Water Partnership (GWP) is assessing, on an ongoing basis, the COVID-19 crisis and the impact it is having on the health, daily lives, and livelihoods, of our staff, our members and stakeholders, and the consequences to our 2020 global work plans.
With the support of the GWP, the Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) was able to take part in the 7th edition of the African Water Week, which was held from the 29th of October to the 02nd of November 2018 in Gabon.
The regional organisation Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med | www.gwpmed.org) and the Energy and Water Agency (EWA | www.energywateragency.gov.mt) of Malta are organizing two back-to-back Capacity Building Workshops in November 2019 in Malta: 12-13/11: ‘Communicating Water Trends & Innovation to Engage Locals and Tourists’, and 13-14/11: 'Non-Conventional Water Resources Management: Local Solutions'.
Dr. Monika Weber-Fahr, GWP’s new Executive Secretary has visited West Africa in the last week of June. She had a stay in Dakar, Senegal to take part in the World Water Forum’s Board of Governors’ meeting, and in the Climate KIC strategy meeting.
The Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) Regional Council announced the appointment of Dr Khondaker Azharul Haq as the GWP SAS Chairperson in effective of 1 January 2019.
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) has been supporting the European Union (EU) -supported Southern African Development Community (SADC) 'Water-Energy-Food ' (WEF) nexus project since July 2017. The two expected results of the project are to establish a SADC Regional WEF Nexus Framework; and develop a prioritised list of Nexus Investment Projects. To realise the result areas, the SADC member states workshop on WEF Nexus was held on the 25th March 2018, bringing together over 150 delegates from all SADC countries.
On 22 February, the CWP leaders met to discuss preparations for the visit of the regional delegation from 25 February to 1 March. This visit is meant to support CWP Guinea in strengthening its visibility and together make efforts to set up initiatives to support the promotion of IWRM.
