GWPSA’s technical team participated at the World Water Week in Stockholm from 28^th August – 2^nd September, 2016. Under the theme, Water for Sustainable Growth, the team participated in a number of sessions contributing to the solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges of today. Key sessions that they participated in included:

On 16 January 2018, India Water Partnership (IWP) in collaboration with TARU Leading Edge kick-started constructing rainwater harvesting (RWH) tanks with a demo project, at the Senior Secondary Government School in Village Garhi Harsaru, Gurgaon.

Strong connection between people and nature- crucial for joint management of river Drin Basin

Gender mainstreaming is a priority and a critical cross cutting issue required for achieving the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) goals and objectives.

The Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) was launched in 2013 in Geneva as a joint initiative of the World Meteorological Organization and the Global Water Partnership at the High-Level Meeting on National Drought Policies.

For transboundary water collaboration of the Lancang-Mekong River Basin countries, GWP China Region and GWP Southeast Region, with the GWPO support, have set up a partnership with the Lancang-Mekong Water Resources Cooperation Center (LMWRCC). It has an initiative harvest in early December 2017.

2016 marks 20 years since Global Water Partnership began its commitment to help governments take a cross-sectoral approach to water resources management.

On December 22, 2016, Mr. Wei Shanzhong, the Commissioner of the Yangtze River Commission, Mr. Jia Hujun, Vice Commissioner, Mr. Jin Xingping, Chief Engineer and other leaders of the Commission paid a visit to Mdm. Cai Qihua, Chair of GWP China.

CWP Benin held on September 20, 2017 a meeting of partners to adopt amendments done in the bylaws of the platform. Speaking, Mr. André TOUPE, chair of the CWP said that the CWP has to reposition itself in a totally changing environment in terms of implementation and compliance with IWRM principles in Benin and that requires a change of role within the water sector.

The Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) is seeking to hire experts from the Drin Riparians to provide GIS and Database technical assistance to the Project Management Team for the preparation of Thematic Reports that will form part of the Drin Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis.
