The Integrated Drought Management in West Africa (IDMP WA) Project Officer visited Torodi, Niger from 13 to 16 April 2016. She was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Niger CWP and the person in charge of communication to visit the demonstration pilot site in Kankantouti, a village of the rural municipality of Torodi.

The TonFuturTonClimat initiative is the result of a GWP-WA and the International Secretariat of Water (ISW) response to the November 2016 call of proposal of the International Climate Cooperation Program (ICCP) funded by the Government of Quebec's Green Fund. The ICCP aims to contribute to efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change (CC) in the most vulnerable French-speaking countries.

The Summer School „Towards 2030 Agenda: A summer school for climate change, innovation and youth advocacy in water management“ took place on 1- 6 July 2018 at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in Warsaw, Poland.

Water and energy are both strategic resources that are fundamental to economic development, industrialisation and creation of much needed jobs in Southern Africa.

Agreements have been signed with CWPs of Ghana, Mali and Burkina Faso to implement WACDEP 2017-19. Benin is yet to finalize the signature process.

In the face of profound global water challenges, on World Water Day 2018 five global multi-stakeholder partnerships representing business, governments, intergovernmental organisations, academia, and civil society organisations announced a new collaboration effort designed to accelerate progress toward ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation around the world. Good governance around transboundary waters is critical for water security, regional socio-economic development, peace, and stability. Since 2010, GWP has been conducting capacity building trainings on International Water Law (IWL) and water governance. While there is no shortage of trainings on transboundary water issues, the uniqueness of GWP’s IWL workshops lie in the peer-to-peer and cross-continental learning, says GWP Senior Network Specialist Yumiko Yasuda. This has proved to be a successful formula that GWP is now ready to take to the next level – an online platform to support existing training and close learning gaps.

According to the WACDEP 2015 Plan of GWP China Region, it was designed under the “Work Package 3: No/low regret investments in regional and national development”, GWP China worked with GWP China Shaanxi Provincial WP, the Research Office of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress and Shaanxi Provincial Water Resources Department to implement the water investment programme in Shaanxi Province from 2014. In 2015, with the support of Xi’an Jiaotong University, GWP China reviewed the contemporary water investment status of Shaanxi Province and developed the assessment.
