The media is invited to the Official Opening Ceremony of the workshop on Tuesday, December 3rd, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the West Conference Room, Kirani James Athletic Stadium, Queen’s Park, St. George’s. The opening features remarks from Mr. Titus Antoine, Director of Economic and Technical Cooperation (Ag.), as well as officials from the organising agencies, Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) and the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC).

Mekrou riparian population were alerted on the effects of climate change and the necessary protection of ecosystems at the head of the Mekrou catchment area.

The case study was developed as part of the global Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) that was formally introduced in 2014 in the Southeast Asia Region, and finalized by the second quarter of 2018.

As one of the GWP-SEA country members, Malaysia Water Partnership has been committed to supporting the implementation of WACDEP. Several activities were carried out to support the country’s commitment to addressing the issues of floods and climate change resilience. One of the activities during the first phase of WACDEP is ‘Community flood-proofing and adaptation for climate resilience’ that was done through the demonstration project. In preparation for the 9th edition of the World Water Forum, to be held in Dakar, Senegal in 2021, the Kick-Off Meeting (Preparatory Process) was held on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 June 2019 in Dakar by the Government of Senegal and the World Water Council. The activity was launched by the Minister of Water and Sanitation of Senegal, Mr. Serigne Mbaye Thiam and the President of the World Water Council, Mr. Loïc Fauchon.

During the UNFCCC COP25 climate change conference in Madrid, GWP received news that it had passed the “Financial Management Capacity Assessment” (FMCA) of the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This approval enables GWP to be a delivery partner of countries to access the GCF Readiness and Preparatory Support Programme (the Readiness Programme).

A West Africa region team including participants from Water Resources Coordination Center (WRCC)/ ECOWAS, Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and Global Water Partnership-West Africa (GWP-WA) took part in a Technical Task Team Workshop on the setting up of the NEPAD PIDA Water Project - Support to project Preparation and Financing of PIDA Transboundary Water and Hydropower Projects and Africa Investments Programme 2019 – 2024. The workshop organized by NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), in collaboration with AMCOW, GWP and Partners was held on the 12th 2018 in Botswana, Gaborone.
