The finalists of the Water ChangeMaker Awards have been announced at the 2020 GWP Network Meeting. Oyun Sanjaasuren, Director of External Affairs for the Green Climate Fund, Chair of the stage two Water ChangeMaker thought leaders’ jury and former GWP Chair, presented the 12 change journeys that now enter the final stage of the Awards.
3rd Regional Partners' Meeting of GWP China opened a new page in addition to 'a regional partnership of GWP' under the witness of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2016. From then on, GWP China had an independent legal status titled "China Water Resources Strategic Studies" in Chinese and "GWP China" in English.
Since 2004, the Danube Art Master competition has united children from schools, NGOs, clubs, daycare centres in 14 countries of the Danube Basin, who share passion for the rivers and art.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC AR5), the effects of climate change will reduce renewable surface water and groundwater resources in most dry subtropical regions. These changes may intensify competition for water among all sectors, strain already water-scarce environments, and negatively impact water quality and quantity globally. Transboundary water basins are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts, says Sonja Koeppel, Secretary of the UNECE Water Convention, as she highlights the up-coming Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on freshwater security that GWP is developing together with partners.
Each year on March 8th, the United Nations’ (UN) International Women’s Day provides a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to recognise acts of courage and determination by women around the globe. It is a global day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
