GWP-Med co-organised a Webinar on Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus in Practice – "Technical Solutions in the Mediterranean : Experience and Opportunities" on 21 July 2020, 13:30-15:00 CEST
"Millions of lives could be at risk if we don’t take the water crisis and global warming more seriously" was among the key closing messages of the 2019 World Water Week (25-30 August, Stockholm), organised by SIWI. Many of the Week’s 250+ sessions showcased water-related solutions to global challenges such as climate change and food scarcity. More than 4000 participants from 138 countries called upon governments, institutions and stakeholders including the private sector, to improve water management and practically implement available solutions to critical water challenges.
In the lead-up to International Women’s Day 2020 (8 March), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency Sida has kicked off what they refer to as a super-year for gender equality. This was announced at a seminar on 5 March at the Sida headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, under the theme “Generation Equality: Adolescents, Gender Equality and SRHR”.
On June 26, 2018, the Eau Vive Internationale team in Togo met with the local authorities of Danyi-Apéyéme to prepare them for the launch of the #TonFuturTonClimat (#TFTC) project.
Gender mainstreaming is a priority and a critical cross cutting issue required for achieving the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) goals and objectives.
Under the Integrating Agriculture in National Adaptation Plans programme (“NAP-Ag”), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are working together with ministries of Agriculture, Environment, Planning and Finance, and key national stakeholders in selected countries to incorporate agricultural sectors into National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) processes.
GWP wants to learn from its Partners about their experience and engagement with the GWP network. The regional secretariat has continued activities to strengthen the collaboration with strategic partners at regional level. After 2017 year ending activities with the Volta Basin Authority, a meeting was held on 31st January 2018 at VBA to exchange on concrete actions to carry out jointly by the two institutions.
