GWP Central America hosted a regional workshop on Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) on 22-23 September in El Salvador. The workshop brought together practitioners from across the region. GWP Caribbean also took part, under the theme “Considerations for Implementing Policies and Practices Related to Rainwater Harvesting and Addressing Climate Change.”
The contribution of the Zambezi River Basin to the socio-economic development of the basin’s riparian states and the SADC region has been applauded by Honourable Lloyd Kaziya, Zambia’s Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection.
The capacity building programme on the resilience of WASH services, started in October 2018 with the sessions on Climate Change and Water Resources Management, ended with the session on strategic planning from the 07th to the 09th of November 2018 in Maroua, Cameroon.
The seventh Africa Water Week was organized in Gabon from 0ctober 29 to November 02 on the theme « Toward Achieving Water Security and Safely Managed Sanitation for Africa”. GWP was one the main session convening institution and GWP WA was represented by the Chair, Prof. Amadou Hama MAIGA and the Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand HOUANYE.
Two winning projects showcasing the important role of youth in advancing an integrated approach to flood and drought risk management have been selected:
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) organized a sub-regional workshop on the integrated biogas system at the SONGHAI Centre (Benin) from 17 to 28 June 2019.
Mr. Mohamed Lamine KEITA, President of JAG a CWP partner NGO represented the CWP Guinea.
Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe releases today a video lecture on Natural Small Water Retention Measures which is available online for free and open to the public.
GWP Cameroon, in collaboration with the Centre for Environmental and Development Studies in Cameroon (CEDC), organised a training workshop in Maroua on 13 February for ten women leaders from two communities (Meri and Mokolo) affected by fluorosis. The training was focused on how to use fluoride removal filters and was the result of a project on how to improve WASH services.
