The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will take place on 23-26 January 2018 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. More than 2,500 participants from over 100 countries will participate in over 400 sessions.
On Thursday, September 27th, 2018, the entire GWP Network will embark on its first-ever “Follow-the-Sun” GWP Network Meeting. Partners from 46 countries will go LIVE from all corners of the world.
Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), in collaboration with the Permanent Secretariat of IWRM Plan (SP PANGIRE) of Niger and the Country Water Partnership of Niger (CWP-Niger), submitted to the Delegation of the European Union (DEU) in Niamey a request for financing of the Project "Water for growth and poverty reduction in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger" (Mekrou Project 2 - Niger).
GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) carried out a working visit to the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) from 29 August to 01 September 2017 in Libreville, Gabon. The main objective of this visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two structures, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2017.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) Steering Committee announced the appointment of Dr. Monika Weber-Fahr as GWP Executive Secretary, effective May 7, 2018. Weber-Fahr joins GWP after 20-plus years in the development field, with diverse experiences in creating and sharing knowledge across global networks and communities. Weber-Fahr succeeds Rudolph Cleveringa who is retiring.
At the Korea Global Adaptation Week on 8-12 April in Songdo, Republic of Korea, GWP launched the publication, “Addressing Water in National Adaptation Plans - Water Supplement to the UNFCCC NAP Technical Guidelines", and explored new and on-going collaboration with key stakeholders.
The President of GWP-CAf is recruited amongst political, scientific or technical personalities from a country in the Central African sub-region, with recognised experience in cooperation and networking, and with the capacity to mobilise stakeholders in the water sector.
The SADC Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Governance Framework, that was developed by SADC with technical assistance from GWPSA, was approved in a joint meeting held by the Ministers responsible for Energy and Water from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the 30th October 2020 through video conferencing, hosted by the Republic of Mozambique.
