In recognition of Resilience Day at UNCCD COP 16 in Riyadh, UNCCD, GWP and International Drought Resilience Alliance (IDRA) are launching a global photo competition to highlight the critical issue of drought resilience and its connection to water scarcity and land degradation.
Terrisha Walcott-Pierre, a dedicated Youth Ambassador for the Global Water Partnership Caribbean (GWP-C), and Public Health Professional, proudly completed a one-week internship in Jamaica from March 2nd to March 10th, 2024, as part of the GWP-C's Caribbean Water Academy for Youth (GWP-C WAY) programme. Pierre-Walcott was sponsored by the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean to continue her capacity building by completing her internship with the Water Resources Authority (WRA) of Jamaica.
The Regional Council of GWP SAS nominated the Executive Director/CEO of GWP Pakistan/Pakistan Water Partnership (PWP), Mr Sardar Muhammad Tariq as the new Regional Chair (Interim), starting from 15 January 2024 through the end of the year.
17 June is the UN World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, also called Desertification and Drought Day (DDD). To mark the day, UNCCD, EOTEC DevNet, and GWP are co-organising a webinar on 18 June focused on showcasing collaborative approaches to tackling drought challenges. This webinar entitled, "United for Earth: Collaborative Strategies Against Drought” represents a crucial step in our collective efforts to combat land degradation and enhance resilience in drought-affected regions.
An evaluation of portfolio project proposals of the National Designated Authority (NDA) in the Central African Republic revealed that gender was not adequately considered in climate project proposals submitted to Climate funds most especially, the Green Climate Fund. This meant that the project proposals did not meet the GCF requirements for the inclusion of gender and the NDA did not have the capacity to verify gender inclusion. To address this, the GWL-led GCF Country Readiness project in the country coordinated the development of a Gender and Social Inclusion Assessment Framework.

The Regional Partners Technical Workshop for the preparation of the Initial Concept Note of the Regional Investment Project for Water Security and Climate Resilience in West Africa (AIP - ECOWAS) for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) was held from 17 to 20 September 2024 in Ouagadougou.
