On June 1, 2017, GWP China, jointly with its partners, chaired the SDG6 webinar inception in Chinese language at the invitation of the Cap-Net UNDP based on close relationship of GWP with UNDP and UNEP.

Prof Amadou Hama Maiga has officially met with the staff of the regional secretariat on October 18 and 19 to exchange on ongoing matters. An opportunity for him to exchange deeply with the outgoing Executive Secretary Mr. Dam Mogbante and the incoming Mr. Armand Houyane who also came to Ouagadougou for that purpose.

Hanoi, 22 March 2019 -- In the Southeast Asia region, prone to many disasters such as cyclones, floods and droughts, many efforts are being made to build capacity, influence policies and develop strategies to better equip member states to prevent and address disaster. Given the need and importance of paying attention to water-related disasters, the High-level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP), drafted ‘principles on investment and financing for water related disaster risk reduction’, which was launched during the 8th World Water Forum in Brazil. Building on a cooperation between the Global Water Partnership (GWP), the HELP and Japanese government, a session on DRR is organized with the main objective to consult on investment and financing for water related-disaster risk reduction principles. This consultation was organized as part of Viet Nam wAter Cooperation Initiative (VACI) 2019 as this initiative is closely related to the VACI’s objectives, which was designed to share and co-create innovative water solution with emphasis on Vietnam and tropical water issues. 2016 marks 20 years since Global Water Partnership began its commitment to help governments take a cross-sectoral approach to water resources management.

The Water Management Commission for the Sélingué and Markala reservoirs (CGESM) was in conclave in Sélingué to take stock of the various recommendations of their previous session; namely: the report on the monitoring of the Sélingué hydroelectric dam from 1 to 20 January 2018 and the results of the simulation of storage and filling 2018 of this dam, as well as the monitoring of the management of the Markala dam in response to the water deficit this year.

Tanzania Water Partnership (TWP) has been recognized and nominated by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation in Tanzania to be a member of the National Multi-Sectoral Water Resources Management Forum. The forum is meant to serve as a national platform for discussing and deliberating on Integrated Water Resources Management and development issues involving wide stakeholder interests, water related institutions and sectors.
