The crucial role of water ecosystems -and especially coastal wetlands- in Middle East & North Africa (MENA) and the policy options on how to best protect and valorize them through a Nexus approach were discussed at a session co-convened by the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and Wetlands International during the recent World Water Week in Stockholm (27-31 August 2018).

On 26 June, GWP Poland organized a seminar Inland navigation from European perspective, which was held at the Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology.
GWP representatives from global, regional, and country level took part in 27 different public sessions at this year’s World Water Week in Stockholm, Sweden, 26-31 August. Sessions covered a full range of topics, such as Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), ecosystems, urban, migration, drought, financing, transboundary, youth, etc. The GWP booth also had themes every day of the week, which included capturing the voices of the visitors, and networking.
GWP Steering Committee Member and CEO of Thirst Mina Guli is going to run 100 marathons in 100 days – her single goal is to raise awareness around the global water crisis, and show what 100% commitment to water means. Mina’s challenge starts on 4 November with the New York Marathon. She will then run across Europe, China, Australia, India, the Middle East, Africa and South America, before finishing her 100-day run in the United States. GWP will help Mina to share water stories along her route.
The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) organized the first and second training workshops on ''Ecosystem planning and management for climate change adaptation in the Volta Basin'' from 20 to 24 May 2019 in Bamako, Mali and on 27 to 31 May 2019 in Bobo Dioulasso, Burkina Faso.
