The Water ChangeMaker Awards closed its submissions on 14 June – with 350+ individuals and groups from over 80 countries having submitted their personal experiences on how they have influenced water decisions that build climate resilience. Since that time, all submitted projects have undergone eligibility and verification screening.
Eau Vive Togo has trained women and local development committees on the promotion of good hygiene and sanitation practices and environmental protection from 26 to 28 February 2019 in Danyi-Apéyéme (Togo). The activity is carried out as part of its project to support young people in protecting the environment, water and soil (PAJPEES).
In order to revitalize the Country Water Partnership in Cape Verde, the IDMP project manager, Ms. Félicité VODOUNHESSI together with the Senior Network Officer (SNO) of the GWP West Africa, Ms. Julienne ROUX also attending the WASAG Forum in Praia, met and discussed with some partners including the chair of the Cape Verde CWP, Mr Mario MONIZ, the Director of the National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANAS), Mr Inacio Mendes PEREIRA, and Mr Januario NASCIMONTO, Director of the Association for the Defense of Environment(of ADAD).
Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe develops a Guide on How to Communicate Drought within its Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe, which aims to enhance the communication between water professionals and media expert about the issue of drought.
A workshop to kick-off the project, proposing a Master Plan for Integrated Trijuga River Improvement and Basin Development based on Principles on Investment and Financing for Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction will be held on Thursday, 13 February 2020 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP) – a joint initiative of GWP and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) – is providing targeted drought management support to 8 countries: Ethiopia, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Benin, Niger, Serbia, Macedonia, and Moldova as part of the UNCCD Drought Initiative.
A regional GWP delegation led by the chair, Prof. Amadou Hama MAIGA and including the Executive Secretary, Mr Armand HOUANYE and the communication and knowledge manager, Sidi COULIBALY, visited Guinea from 25 February to 1st March 2018.
