After a meeting held with the new Technical Committee (TC) chair in November in Ouagadougou, a larger meeting with the Chair, all Technical Committee members and the staff of the Executive Secretariat was organized in Bamako on 13 to 15 December 2017. The meeting served as a platform for GWP-WA TC members to engage with the Chair and Executive Secretariat on how to work together to advance GWP work at the regional level and in countries in West Africa.
The first “International Workshop on Wastewater Management in the Danube river Basin“ will take place from 28 to 29 November 2017 in Bucharest, Romania.
Pr. Abel AFOUDA visited the secretariat from 21 to 26 March 2016. He discussed with the personnel all issues from traditional running ones to project technical and planning issues.
GWP Technical Committee Chair Dr. Jerome Delli Priscoli was a keynote speaker at the World Water Cities Forum 2017, which took place at the Korean International Water Week (KIWW) in September. Urban resilience and how to get it right was at the heart of his speech.
The International Secretariat for Water (ISW), Eau Vive International in collaboration with GWP WA and other partners have organized a training on the topic “New ideas for a better sharing of resources”.
In June 2017, the Government of the Republic of South Africa, under the aegis of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW) commissioned the Global Water Partnership (GWP) to develop a legacy initiative of the HLPW in Africa. In response, the Africa Water Investment Programme (AIP) was developed by GWP in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Development Programme Global Environment Facility (UNDP-GEF) and the HLPW Secretariat at the World Bank/UN.
The GWP CAf and the UNESCO Regional Multisectoral Office for Central Africa, in collaboration with ECCAS, organized from 8 to 10 November 2017, a capacity-building workshop on IWRM and climate resilience in the context of transboundary catchment basins, in the case of transboundary catchment basins.
