The Country Water Partnership of Burkina is looking for a site for its Integrated Drought Management Project (IDMP) pilot demonstration action. On March 21, 2016, a meeting was held with the authorities and technical services of the municipality of Komki –ipala to discuss the modalities, strategy and project start-up timing. After discussions it was agreed that the CWP should meet the Village Chief and landowners to explain the content and expectations and get their commitment despite the initial introduction that was already done. This meeting was done on March 25 in collaboration with the IDMP project Manager at reginal level.
GWP Caribbean teamed up with its partners, the Caribbean Youth Environment Network-Jamaica Chapter (CYEN-Ja) and the Water Resources Authority (WRA) of Jamaica, to host a Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Outreach Initiative at the Jamaica Climate Walk 2015.
The Global Water Partnership (GWP) Sponsoring Partners have announced the appointment of Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren as the new Chair of GWP, effective July 1, 2016. Dr. Oyun is a Member of Parliament of Mongolia, former Minister of Environment and Green Development, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. She currently serves as President of the United Nations Environment Assembly of UNEP.
African Water Association (AfWA) is preparing a reference set of case studies where youth involvement has practical and positive impacts, which can trigger different institutions to step up their support to youth.
AfWA is inviting Case Studies that demonstrate the extent and depth of engagement of youth in water, sanitation, productive uses of water, development and ecosystem services through water resources conservation and management.

The Tanzania Water Partnership (TWP) was launched in Feb 2004 as the 8th Country Water Partnership (CWP) in the Southern African Sub Region. By then, it was called CWP. However, there were only a few activities that were registered between 2004 and 2013. Sporadic efforts to keep and sustain the partnership did not yield much success and hence dormancy dominated most of this period.
The Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) contributed to a key UNESCO handbook on science diplomacy and transboundary water management published in late 2015, focusing on the Orontes River case in Lebanon; this was the outcome of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) project “New technologies for an integrated and sustainable management of natural resources in Lebanon” financially supported by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The 7th SADC Multi Stakeholder Water Dialogue, a biennial activity which provides a platform for regional stakeholders to discuss and share experiences on different aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) will this year be held from the 29th to the 30th of September in Windhoek, Namibia. Running under the theme “Watering Development in SADC: The central role of water in driving industrialization” this year's Water Dialogue will focus on unpacking the role that water will play in driving industrialisation in the region. The Youth H2O forum joined a number of stakeholders in commemorating World Water Day which fell on 22nd March 2016. The day was commemorated in two different places. The main event was held in Choma Southern province on the 21st March, and the other event was held in Lusaka at Mtendere Clinic.
The Executive Secretary of GWP, Rudolph Cleveringa, says that GWP as a network needs to change: “We can’t use the same agenda as we did 20 years ago”. Approaching World Water Day 2016, Cleveringa takes a moment to reflect on GWP’s 20 years in the water world and talks about his vision on how to make the network fit for the future – local inclusion and diversity are words he uses to make his point.
