The Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and GWP have concluded the recruitment process of the two Volta Project staff to be located for the Technical Project Manager at the Executive Directorate of VBA and for the Project Technical Assistant at GWP-WA secretariat.
World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. The 3rd Consultation Workshop on enhancing the potential for Private Sector Participation in Water Infrastructure in Lebanon, with emphasis on the role of Banks was organised in Beirut on the 8th November 2017, as part of the National Policy Dialogue on Water Governance and Financing. The Workshop involved more than 25 targeted representatives of relevant public institutions, private banks, regional organisations and NGOs.
The Orange-Senqu River Basin is a transboundary water resource shared by Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa, managed by the Orange–Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) - a GWP Southern Africa Partner. The Commission was established in 2000 and in this interview, Executive Secretary Lenka Thamae describes the partnership and issues at hand.

GWP has been working closely with the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) for over 20 years – the first connection goes back all the way to 1996, when GWP was established. Today, GWP Southern Africa is a recognized implementing agency of SADC, and also a strategic partner. GWP has supported SADC through the different phases of its regional IWRM plan, and currently one of the key activities is implementing a regional Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Approach.

GWP-WA partners met in an Extraordinary Assembly of Partners on 17 October 2018 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso to allow the regional partnership to keep its legal status in the host country, Burkina Faso and to collect the contributions of partners for the ongoing development process of the new GWP 2020-2024 strategy.
The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali which is benefitting from a financing to help in the implementation of the IWRM Plan funded by DANIDA visited in December the CWPs in Burkina Faso and Benin.
