Central Asian Countries Discuss #ValuingWater

Tajikistan hosted the second regional consultation on Valuing Water – a global process to assist the work of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW). Officials of water management organisations, representatives of Tajik ministries and agencies, international and regional organisations, financial institutions, academia, youth, NGOs, and other stakeholders met in Dushanbe on 6 July to add their voices to the debate.

IDMP follow-up mission to Mali

GWP-WA and CWP Mali carried out a mission in the villages concerned by the pilot projects in the rural commune of Gouendo from 4 to 8 June. The mission confirmed the expected results in the project document, in particular the capacity for the beneficiaries to make their own compost and to spread it rationally through the zai method.

Mékrou Project, resigning PM hands over to GWP WA Executive Secretary during ceremony

During a ceremony held at GWP / WA the Mékrou Project manager, Mr. Corneille AHOUANSOU who resigned handed over to the Executive Secretary of GWP West Africa, Mr DAM MOGBANTE and received regards from his former colleagues. The chair of the CWP Burkina and two of his colleagues, the Permanent Secretary of the CWP Niger, Mr Radji GARBA who will support the ES in the technical implementation of the Project to completion and GWP / WA staff were in attendance.

Survey on Water Rate Reform in Hebei

GWP China and close partner WRI work on supporting relevant governmental agencies in identifying pros and cons of the new management tools applied in water rate reform and their impacts on the sector of energy and water resources, as well as private businesses and local communities based on financial leverage.

Mékrou Project: Practical decision-making tools- National Experts trained on Hydrological Modelling and the L-Moments Method

The Regional Center AGRHYMET and the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Union brought together experts and research structures at the national level involved in the implementation of the Mékrou Project for a training workshop on hydrological modelling and the L-Moments methodology. "The aim of this workshop is to strengthen the capacities of the actors of the technical management of the Mékrou basin on tools that have been developed in the framework of the Project in order to allow the experts to master these tools and also to perpetuate all the assets of the project in terms of developing tools for replication in other basins. This makes it a very important workshop to ensure the sustainability of tools in the region", according to Dr. Abdou Ali, the Regional Coordinator of the training at AGRHYMET.

Interview with Melita Grant: Taking Gender Equality to the Next Level

GWP and Partners recently organised a one-day high level workshop in Stockholm, Sweden, to discuss gender equality and inclusion in water management, and set out a path forward for a range of influential stakeholders. This was the second part of a wider study on how to better address gender-equality and inclusion issues in water-related policies and programmes. The event was facilitated by Melita Grant of the Institute for Sustainable Futures - University of Technology of Sydney (ISF-UTS) in Australia. She talks us through the process.
