The pandemic is affecting almost all African countries, including the 15 West African States. Covid-19 could seriously affect the nations and populations of West Africa in their daily lives and economic activities given the fragility of health systems, informal economy and precarious urban systems.

The INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE "RATIONAL USE OF WATER RESOURCES - KEY FOR ACHIEVING THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS" organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the State Committee of Water Resources took place from 5-6 November 2019 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. GWP's new Strategy 2020-2025 was also launched at the event.

Gathering more than 70 high level MENA representatives -from national and regional institutions involved in the sectors of water management, energy production, food and agriculture, and environmental protection, as well as financing institutions- the 1st Nexus Roundtable in the MENA and wider Mediterranean solidly contributed to the ongoing Dialogue processes in the Region for the incorporation of Water, Energy, Food and Ecosystems Nexus considerations in national and transboundary water resources management planning, including the link between the Nexus approach and vulnerable groups (women, youth, poor), and the enhancement of related capacities of MENA institutions and stakeholders.

The Green Climate Fund (GCF) has awarded the Government of Zambia a Grant of USD 2,184,555 for the development of a National Adaptation Plan (NAP) for Climate Resilience.

Within the framework of the adoption of a National Water Policy in Central African Republic, a stakeholder workshop was organized in Bangui on August 24, 2020 by the Ministry of Energy Development and Water Resources with the support of UNICEF and the Central African Republic Country Water Partnership (CWP CAR).

GWP Steering Committee Member Mina Guli's #RunningDry campaign - to run 100 marathons in 100 days to raise awareness around the global water crisis - has turned into a movement, after a serious injury forced Mina to take a break from running.
