2nd Regional Conference of the Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector project

The 2nd Regional Conference of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) labelled project “Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector” was organised on 5-6 December 2016, in Tunis, Tunisia, by the Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med), in close collaboration with the H2020 Pollution Reduction & Prevention Investment Group (PRPI) & National Action Plan process. It convened more than 110 decision makers and representatives of government, civil society, international organisations, donors and financing institutions and the private sector.

Demonstrating IWRM as a tool for Drought Resilience in Uganda

Ruth Beukman: Relationships, Diversity and Flexibility are our Strengths

After 13 years, she is preparing to leave her job at the end of this year. But she will never completely leave GWP, she says, and speaks fondly of the network – the “GWP family”, whose strength lies in its strong relationships, diversity and flexibility.

GWP WAf at the regional days

    The Chair of GWP West Africa, Prof. Abel AFOUDA  accompanied by the Regional Coordinator and Communication took part in the GWP regional days 2015 in Stockholm from 22 to 25 November.   This meeting was an opportunity to review the progress made by the global network in its fields of action and to make projections into the future. GWP and several partners express satisfaction since their efforts to have a water dedicated sustainable development goal come true. Discussions are underway to better position the network of partners in supporting countries to be successful in the implementation of the SDGs as a whole but especially the goal 6 with its different targets. Discussions at the regional days gathered ideas for a better positioning of GWP.

    International Women’s Day 2017

    Water Salon Launches the First“Water Salon Insight“

    Late September,Water Salon had its first output“Water Salon Insight—Water and Hydropower Development in China” along with media platform “wechat”  launched to the public. As the follow-up of the first activity of Water Salon, jointly organized by GWP China, WRI, WWF and IUCN, was completed in April, 2015, Water Salon Insight works as a visible media interacting government, experts and  the people to discuss the common interests  in water related fields.

    RBO Workshop on “Improved Regional Integration through River Health and Nexus Approaches”

    The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Secretariat with support from the European Union in delegated cooperation with the United Kingdom and German Governments, managed by GiZ, in collaboration with the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa, will be holding the 7th SADC River Basin Organisation (RBO) workshop in Maseru, Lesotho. The Government of Lesotho on behalf of the Orange-Senqu Basin Commission (ORASECOM) will host the workshop from the 15-17 May, 2017
