A new guidance document has been developed to support the design of well-balanced strategies for Integrated Flood Management. “This guidance document serves as the operational link between the policy and tool papers previously published by the Associated Programme on Flood Management (APFM),” said Johannes Cullman, Director of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Climate and Water Department.

A workshop was organized in Maroua, Cameroon, under the direction of the Regional Delegate of MINEE from 07 to 08 February 2018. The workshop aimed to proceed with the technical validation of the reports of studies on the vulnerability of WASH services, and on stakeholder analysis and assessment of their capacity building needs.

Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA was one of the presenters during the 19th Congress of the African Water Association (AfWA) held in Bamako from 11 to 16 February 2018. “Sanitation and Integrated Water Resources Management -IWRM” was the topic of the communication made by GWP WA chair.

GWPSA will participate in a panel discussion and make a presentation on “Sharing of experiences on successful Water Conservation and Demand Management Programmes in other countries”. The discussion is a part of the sector policy dialogue on Water Conservation and Water Demand Management (WDM) that will be hosted by the Policy Unit under the Department of Water Services, South Africa, and will be held on Wednesday 16^th March, 2016 in Pretoria.

A Regional Workshop for the Validation of the Draft ECOWAS Directive on Shared Water Resources Management in West Africa, held on 2 and 3 May 2017 in Dakar, under the chairmanship of Mr. Diène FAYE, Secretary of State in charge of Hydraulics of Senegal.

Chairs, Regional Coordinators, Programme Managers of Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP), Senior Network Officers for Pan Asia met in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 12 and 13 September 2017 to develop the Pan Asia WACDEP Strategy document 2017-2019.

On December 24 and 25, 2016, at the invitation of Henan Water Conservancy Investment Group Co. Ltd, Prof Hao Wang, Standing Vice Chair of GWP China and Prof Yunzhong Jiang, GWP China Secretary General visited Pingyu County and Zhengzhou City to conduct evaluation on local integrated water and environment management projects.

Yangon, 5 December 2018 -- The dialogue on sharing knowledge from various research works on harvest moisture from thin air to collect water was held at Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department on 5th December 2018 in Yangon, Myanmar. The dialogue is part of the Myanmar Water Partnership activity in collaboration with the Nationalities Youth Resource Development Degree College.

GWP took part in the COP 23 UN climate talks in Bonn, Germany, on 6-17 November, to promote climate change adaptation through water resources management. Various streams of GWP’s work on climate resilience were highlighted, and financing for water was a key component in many discussions.
