Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe releases the Compendium of Good Practices, which provides an overview of the outputs and accomplishments achieved within the Integrated Drought Management Programme in CEE in the period from 2013 to 2015.

On 10 October in Slovenia a National Consultation Dialogue on Drought took place for a third time. The event was organised by the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and Global Water Partnership Slovenia in the framework of the Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe (IDMP CEE).

An electronic consultation of the Steering Committee members was organized from 21 to 30 March 2017. According to the Statutes, two SC meeting should be organized every year, one of which should be virtual in order to reduce costs related to statutory meetings.

Benin is one of the ten new countries included in the WACDEP 2 phase. A process was engaged to develop a project document for the country.

The Inception Meeting of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) supported project “Enabling Transboundary Cooperation and Integrated Water Resources Management in the extended Drin River Basin” took place in Tirana, on 16 December 2015, at the presence of Mr. Edmond Panariti, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Water Administration, Mr. Ferid Agani, Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, as well as Mr. Stevo Temelkovski, Deputy Minister of Environment and Physical Planning.

 

The 22nd Regional Council (RC) Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) and the Regional Workshop on Rapid Country Level Analysis were held back-to-back from 29-30 September and on 28 September 2016 respectively in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Lao Water Partnership with support from GWP Southeast Asia held a seminar on 15 June 2015 to support the Government of Lao PDR’s policy in relation to preparation and finalization of national socio-economic development plan 2016-2020, Strategy 2025 and Vision 2030, which related to national sustainable development and green economy.

Mr. Thoumma Saleumxay, Deputy Director General of Department of Water Resource, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, chaired the meeting and expressed on the important of Integrated Water Resources Management, sustainable development management in Lao PDR in in his opening remarks.

Xiang River is one of main tributaries of the Yangtze River and the largest river in Hunan Province, providing water for domestic and industrial use as well as water transport. Changsha, the capital of Hunan and other developed cities in Hunan, with higher urbanization and dense population, are concentrated in the Xiang River Basin. Xiang River flows through Changsha and affords the city drinking water. For citizens, the health of the river affects the security of each family and their living environment.
