The interdependence between Water, Energy and Food security (WEF) offers opportunities for stronger collaboration among the three sectors, thus increasing the strength of tackling the region’s developmental Agenda leading to the achievement of the SADC Goals of Peace and Stability, Regional Integration, Industrialisation and Poverty Eradication.
This workshop will allow a comprehensive presentation of the activities/results of the scientific component of the Mekrou project, and also the installation of all developed or adapted tools (SWAT, EPIC, REFRAN CV, AquaSurvey, PostgreSQL, E-Water), on the computers of all participants and on new machines for scientific and technical structures (AGRHYMET, NBA, and 1 for each country).
Global Water Partnership Southern Africa Partners adopted strategic repositioning towards water security, job creation, industrialization and SDG implementation in June 2017.
A West African delegation of 10 participants from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and the regional level have taken part into the Green Climate Fund (GCF) workshop in South Africa on the financing of water-related projects. Their participation was made possible through the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) to this meeting from 19 to 21 September 2018.
From 26th – 28th June 2018, meetings were held at WRC to review the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) Tool for the water resources sub-sector to include climate change.
GWP promotes youth inclusion in water resources management. One of those ways is through a robust internship programme. Civil Engineer Axel Martinez, 26, from Nicaragua, spent five months with GWP Central America as a Young Professional Development Initiative Intern under GWP’s Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP). He says the experience has helped him to grow professionally.
El taller técnico Conceptos transformacionales para la elaboración de propuestas ante el Fondo Verde para el Clima ha reunido a entidades nacionales, regionales e internacionales, todas las cuales son partes interesadas importantes en la arquitectura del FVC, que están comprometidas a contribuir a un objetivo importante: permitir a los países preparar proyectos hídricos para resiliencia climática de alta calidad que puedan ser apoyados por el FVC.
