The Regional Center AGRHYMET and the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Union brought together experts and research structures at the national level involved in the implementation of the Mékrou Project for a training workshop on hydrological modelling and the L-Moments methodology. "The aim of this workshop is to strengthen the capacities of the actors of the technical management of the Mékrou basin on tools that have been developed in the framework of the Project in order to allow the experts to master these tools and also to perpetuate all the assets of the project in terms of developing tools for replication in other basins. This makes it a very important workshop to ensure the sustainability of tools in the region", according to Dr. Abdou Ali, the Regional Coordinator of the training at AGRHYMET.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. The AIP will support Member States to access transaction management services to assure impactful in-vestments in both infrastructure and nature management solutions for assuring water security; and improve-ments in sanitation and hygiene services delivery.

Held from October 3 to 4, 2018, this Steering Committee brought together the presidents of the 5 PNEs of the Central African sub-region (Cameroon, Congo, CAR, Chad and Sao Tome and Principe), a representative of the GWPO, a member of the Scientific and Technical Committee (STC), and the other members of the Steering Committee who are representatives of the Association of Journalists for Climate of the Republic of Congo, LCBC (Lake Chad Basin Commission), RECOJAC, WWF Cameroon and the President of AMCOW TAC in Central Africa, special guest.

GWP held its annual Regional Days meeting on 23-25 May in Budapest, Hungary. This was followed by meetings of the GWP Steering Committee, Financing Partners Group, and Sponsoring Partners in Stockholm, Sweden on 11-14 June. All meetings were focused on launching the process for developing GWP’s new strategy.

The Orange-Senqu River Basin is a transboundary water resource shared by Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa, managed by the Orange–Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) - a GWP Southern Africa Partner. The Commission was established in 2000 and in this interview, Executive Secretary Lenka Thamae describes the partnership and issues at hand.
