Final communiqué of the regional kick-off workshop of the" Programme on Advancing Dialogue and Investment for Food Security – in Water - Energy – Food - Ecosystems Nexus in West Africa” from 11 to 13 December in Bamako, Mali.

Cameroon is already facing consequences of climate change, including an abnormal recurrence of extreme weather phenomena such as violent winds, high temperatures, and heavy rainfall, which endanger communities’ ecosystems and the services they provide. The consequences of climate change may undermine Cameroon's efforts to reduce poverty, develop a strong, diversified, and competitive economy, and strengthen national unity and consolidate the democratic process. Thus, the National Adaptation Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC) was created to assist the Cameroonian people in facing this important challenge.

The 18th session of the Bamako Forum was held on 22 to 24 February 2018 around the topic “Land use planning in the Sahel-Saharan region: a factor for security, development and peace ".

Across West and Central Africa, surface temperatures have increased significantly over the last 50 years. The primary impacts of climate change are mostly felt through water. Climate-related events such as droughts and flooding are already having a significant and diverse impact across the region, exacerbating existing challenges such as rapid population growth, extreme poverty, water shortages, rapid urbanisation and conflict.

The #TonfuturTonClimate project in Benin is giving young people the opportunity to participate in the implementation of adaptation projects in the agricultural and forestry sectors, which are strongly affected by climate change, in order to make them actors of change to address climate change issues.

On March 2, 2017, as our loyal regional partner, the World Resources Institute (WRI) will sign the Memorandum of Understanding with GWP China. The signing ceremony will convene top leaders of GWP China and WRI at global level in Beijing.

The first “International Workshop on Wastewater Management in the Danube river Basin“ will take place from 28 to 29 November 2017 in Bucharest, Romania.
