The 7th Africa Water Week (AWW7) takes place in Libreville, Gabon, on 29 October to 2 November. The theme of the week is "Toward Achieving Water Security and Safely Managed Sanitation for Africa".
Bhutan Water Partnership (BhWP) aligned to the World Water Day theme ‘Nature for Water: exploring nature-based solutions to the water challenges we face in the 21st century’ conducted a drainage cleaning exercise on 22 March in Thimphu, Bhutan.
The Water Resources Commission, in collaboration with Ghana Country Water Partnership, organized a workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 6 target 6.5 on Integrated Water Resources Management on 20th June 2019.
In recognition of the increasing pollution in the Chubachu stream compounded by poor waste management, the National Environment Commission Secretariat in collaboration with the Thimphu Thromde, Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN)/Bhutan Water Partnership (BhWP) and Clean Bhutan decided to adopt and spearhead the cleaning of Chubachu stream. The adoption was launched on 22 March 2017 in observation of the World Water Day, which was followed by a mass cleaning campaign.
Phase I also aims at identifying concrete investment projects - with a focus on multi-purpose water infrastructure - which could be funded under Phase II. The SADC WEF Nexus Dialogue Project is a strategic fit in the implementation of SADC's Regional water, energy, food policies, strategies and action plans. It will also contribute in implementing SADC's Roadmap and Strategy for Industrialisation. The project is expected to promote better interaction and synergies between the water, food, and energy sectors in order to unlock and optimize development potential of the region for economic growth and transformation.
