Towards the establishment of Early Warning System in the Lake Chad Basin area.

GWP-CAf Staff made a four days working visit to the Executive Secretariat of Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC), which took place from 22 to 25 of March 2016, in Ndjamena, Chad.

 

The main objective of this visit was to finalize the ToRs and tender document for the development of a project on the establishment of an Early Warning System. The visit ended with the approval of the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the project entitled “Strengthening Climate Information and Early Warning Systems (EWS) for Climate Resilient Development and Adaptation to Climate Change in the Lake Chad Basin area”.

Capacity building in International Water Law

Key challenges to water security including, for instance, rapid population growth, climate change, and pollution are not bound to specific administrative boundaries. The transboundary cooperation programme was set up to address such critical challenges and promote good governance over shared water courses and aquifers.

NBA and GWP-WA sign an MOU

The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) and the Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) signed on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 in Niamey a collaboration agreement between The two institutions. The idea of ​​signing such a collaborative framework document has been issued since 2009 but could not be realized.

India Water Week-2016, 4-8 April 2016, New Delhi

India Water Week-2016 was held from 4 to 8 April 2016 with the theme of ‘Water for All: Striving together’. While the Inaugural and Plenary ceremony of the event took place at Vigyan Bhavan; the rest such as seminars, panel discussions, side events, exhibitions, brainstorming sessions, were held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

Senegal Country Water Partnership accredited

Nine Country Water Partnerships (CWP) are now accredited out of the thirteen in West Africa. At the end of September 2017, the Assembly of Partners of GWP West Africa recommended that Senegal and Ivory Coast CWPs make necessary steps to submit needed documents for their accreditation.

23rd International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage

The 23rd International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage is organized by the Mexican National Committee of ICID (MXCID) from 8-14 October 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico. The main theme of the Congress is ‘Modernizing Irrigation and Drainage for a New Green Revolution’.
