The 23rd International Congress on Irrigation and Drainage is organized by the Mexican National Committee of ICID (MXCID) from 8-14 October 2017 in Mexico City, Mexico. The main theme of the Congress is ‘Modernizing Irrigation and Drainage for a New Green Revolution’.

On 26 March 2015, the Burundi CWP held its ordinary statutory general assembly meeting in Bujumbura to discuss several issues icluding review of  progress towards activity achievement for the year 2014 and strategy for the implementation of  Bu CWP’s Action Plan for the year 2015.

El Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas y el Presidente del Grupo del Banco Mundial convocaron un Grupo de Alto Nivel sobre el Agua (HLPW) en enero de 2016. Uno de sus principales objetivos es desarrollar un conjunto de principios compartidos para motivar y alentar a los gobiernos, las empresas y la sociedad civil a Considerar los múltiples valores del agua y guiar la incorporación transparente de estos valores en la toma de decisiones de los formuladores de políticas, las comunidades y las empresas. Se ha preparado un documento conceptual, "Valorar el agua: preámbulo y principios", como documento de discusión para consulta con las partes interesadas. Debido a su amplia y diversa red multipartita, se ha pedido a Global Water Partnership (GWP) que facilite las consultas regionales para apoyar el trabajo del HLPW en su contribución a su Plan de Acción (alineado con SDGs y otros acuerdos de alto nivel). Estas consultas crearán conciencia y examinarán la pertinencia a nivel regional / nacional de las perspectivas mundiales, y aportarán insumos, opciones y recomendaciones que mejorarán las resoluciones de la HLPW.

International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on March 8 every year to commemorate the movement for women's rights. For 2018, International Women’s Day comes on the heels of unprecedented global movement for women’s rights, equality and justice. This has taken the form of global marches and campaigns, including #MeToo and #TimesUp in the United States of America and their counterparts in other countries, on issues ranging from sexual harassment and femicide to equal pay and women’s political representation. In this context, the UN theme for the 2018 International Women’s Day is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activists transforming women’s lives”.

In Shaanxi Province, groundwater is a critical source of fresh drinking water for the local citizens and also supplying for the irrigated agriculture. Groundwater is also important in sustaining streams, lakes, wetlands and associated ecosystems. In the meantime, climate change affects ground water resources and is closely linked to other global change drivers, including population growth, urbanization and land-use change, coupled with other socio-economic trends.

Tuesday, 5 June 2018 - Pre-monsoon conditions in Sri Lanka have caused storms (with rainfall peaking at 350 mm over 24 hours) since 19 May 2018 in the southwest parts of the country. Precipitation triggered a flood and landslide situation across the country, affecting thousands of lives and livelihoods, as well as causing damage to property.

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, will host the first-ever Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Research Symposium in Trinidad on July 15^th and 16^th, 2015 at The University Inn and Conference Centre in St. Augustine.

On the occasion of World Water Day (22 March), GWP China hosted the 3^rd Regional Partners’ Meeting during which the new council members of GWP China were elected for a term of three years (2016-2018) in Beijing.
