GWPSA’s technical team participated at the World Water Week in Stockholm from 28th August – 2nd September, 2016. Under the theme, Water for Sustainable Growth, the team participated in a number of sessions contributing to the solutions to the most pressing water-related challenges of today. Several processes that place water at the center of the development are underway worldwide (IWRM, MDGs, SDGs ...).
At the level of West Africa, ECOWAS as the main political body for development, has undertaken, among other actions, the creation of the Permanent Framework for Coordination and Monitoring (PFCM), and the development of the Regional Water Policy in West Africa (PREAO).
As part of the implementation of the West African component of the Integrated Drought Management Programme (IDMP-WAf), Mali Country Water Partnership (CWP Mali) organized on 12 and 13 June 2015 the validation workshop of the review of initiatives in the area of drought in the country.
The opening ceremony was marked by the welcome address of the representative of GWP / WA, the vice chair of CWP Mali and the opening speech of the National Director of Hydraulics.
Two missions of the secretariat were undertaken in Niger and Burkina to follow up on the recommendations of the audit report for 2014 and to see how ta carry out projects both wth the Dori and Tera municipalitie in Burkina and Niger.
The finance and Mekrou project managers went in Niamey on 12 and 16 April 2015 to work with the Niger CWP and host institution Eau Vive on the recommendations contained in the 2014 audit report on the implementation of the Mekrou project in Niger.
