“Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality” is the global theme for International Women’s Day 2017. It asks governments to make national commitments to address the challenges that are holding women and girls back from reaching their full potential.

GWP has sponsorship available for eligible participants to complete the online course in Integrated and Adaptive Water Resources Planning, Management and Governance offered by McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Deadline to apply is 25 August 2016.

Water security is under intense pressure in many urban areas, and the very nature of urbanisation contributes to water stress situations both from a quantity and quality perspective. It is within this context that on 12^th June 2015 at Meikles Hotel, Zimbabwe, Global Water Partnership co-jointly with the African Development Bank through the Africa Water Facility (AWF) gathered 45 participants at an Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) workshop. 

The National Climate Change Response Strategy (NCCRS) that was adopted in July 2014 was officially launched by the Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa on the 19^th of November 2015 at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare, Zimbabwe. The launch was attended by senior government officials, representatives from different organisations in the water sector and the local leadership drawn from the 9 Provinces around the country. The launch came at a time when Zimbabwe is stepping up efforts towards climate change adaptation and mitigation as witnessed by the development of the Strategy and the Intended National Determined Contributions (INDCs) to support the process.

Tangible applications of greywater recycling systems, supported by raising awareness of untapped water resources

Xiang River is one of main tributaries of the Yangtze River and the largest river in Hunan Province, providing water for domestic and industrial use as well as water transport. Changsha, the capital of Hunan and other developed cities in Hunan, with higher urbanization and dense population, are concentrated in the Xiang River Basin. Xiang River flows through Changsha and affords the city drinking water. For citizens, the health of the river affects the security of each family and their living environment.

The AMCOW Secretariat in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (Tanzania) will be holding the 6th Africa Water Week (AWW) and 10th General Assembly at Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 18^th-22 July, 2016 under the theme ‘Achieving the SDGs on Water Security and Sanitation’.   The Tanzania Water Partnership has been co-opted by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation as one of the lead institutions constituting the National Organizing Committee (NOC) for the 6th Africa Water Week. Several members of TWP are part of the NOC.
