The Regional Technical Committee met for the first time since its establishment on 30 and 31 March 2016 in the offices of GWP / WA with the Secretariat and the President. The meeting allowed the members of the Technical Committee to update on the current dynamics within the GWP, in this transition period to the 2017-2019 work program in order to build its position to contribute in the way the most effective.

Global Water Partnership Africa Coordination Unit (GWP-CU) was the lead trainer for the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) regional training workshop on mainstreaming Climate Change Adaptation into water resources in Seoul, Korea.

To ensure the sustainable management of water resources in the Sourou Basin (Volta affluent), the Joint Support Programme for Water Resources Management (PCA-GIRE) organized a workshop on 27 February 2018 on the development of a water management and development plan (Sage).

On March 2, 2017, as our loyal regional partner, the World Resources Institute (WRI) will sign the Memorandum of Understanding with GWP China. The signing ceremony will convene top leaders of GWP China and WRI at global level in Beijing.

The 18th session of the Bamako Forum was held on 22 to 24 February 2018 around the topic “Land use planning in the Sahel-Saharan region: a factor for security, development and peace ".

The Orange-Senqu River Basin is a transboundary water resource shared by Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and South Africa, managed by the Orange–Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) - a GWP Southern Africa Partner. The Commission was established in 2000 and in this interview, Executive Secretary Lenka Thamae describes the partnership and issues at hand.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. Benin has established a Network of Professional Women in the Water and Sanitation Sector (RBFPEA) on 11 May 2018 in Cotonou to promote the involvement of professional women in the implementation of actions and projects and highlight their contribution to the development of the sector. CWP-Benin strongly supported the initiative.

Guinea partners are still looking for ways to make the CWP stand and achieve results for the benefits of its partners.
