Securing Water, Food, Energy, Ecosystems: GWP Africa Responds to the Global Agenda

2015 is a milestone with the new UN Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming COP 21 on Climate Change in Paris in December. For the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), 2015 is the “water” year. Water is the main agricultural production factor impacted by climate change. In the Global Water Partnership (GWP), partners are joining forces at country, regional and global levels to contribute to sustainable development in the face of climate change. This initiative, in Sub Saharan Africa, will, in an inclusive manner, identify challenges and technical and institutional priority actions, and implement concrete activities at all levels. Read more

ABOUT GWP-Med

The Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) aims at a water-secure Mediterranean, through application of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approaches. It brings together more than 100 stakeholders of different water disciplines, including 10 regional stakeholders networks. It was established in 2002, and is one of the 13 Regions of the intergovernmental organization Global Water Partnership (GWP).

Benin: Planting trees to restore the ecosystem of the head source of the Mekrou basin

The official launch to restore the head source of the Mekrou basin was done on 20 June 2017 by the Mayor of Kouandé as part of the implementation of the Pilot Project to Support the Restoration of the Mekrou Basin (PAREM).
