Draft Agenda [Some speakers to be confirmed]

Tajikistan hosted the second regional consultation on Valuing Water – a global process to assist the work of the High Level Panel on Water (HLPW). Officials of water management organisations, representatives of Tajik ministries and agencies, international and regional organisations, financial institutions, academia, youth, NGOs, and other stakeholders met in Dushanbe on 6 July to add their voices to the debate.

March 22 is World Water Day (WWD) named by the United Nations in 1993 to highlight the challenges associated with precious resource.

The National celebration for World Wetlands Day organised by the Central Environment Authority (CEA) and Wild Life Department (WLD) was held on 2 February 2016 at a wetland site in Chilaw in the North Western Province under the Patronage of His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena. Sri Lanka Water Partnership (SLWP) and Hatton National Bank were the two main collaborators of this national event while Mr Ranjith Ratnayake, Country Coordinator SLWP attended the celebration.

Staff from GWP’s 13 regions met for Regional Days in Stockholm, Sweden, on 9-12 May. The annual event is an opportunity to take stock of current and on-going matters in the network, and to plan for the year ahead. Coinciding with this, GWP’s Network Meeting was held, and broadcast live on Facebook.

The Young Water Leaders Summit (YWLS) is a flagship event at the Singapore International Water Week. The 3-day Summit takes place 8-10 July and facilitates interactive dialogues on pressing water issues, as well as networking among young professionals, industry leaders and senior water practitioners.

The village communities of Tampizua II in the Bawku Municipality and Azum Sapelga in the Binduri district of Northern Ghana are very happy with the field demonstration project being implemented in their communities. Located on the borders of the White Volta River these communities are experiencing various unfortunate situations such as floodings that are affecting their livelihoods because of climate related factors.

Drawing on the global theme for this year: Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality, we have asked women in the water community to answer the question: How can the water sector step it up for gender equality?

#COP21 commonly referred to as the United Nations Climate Change Conference is the 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). #COP21 kicked off on November 30^th and runs until December 11th, 2015 in France. 

A review meeting on the 1^st draft manuscript on the “Limpopo River Basin: Atlas of Our Changing Environment” took place in Johannesburg, South Africa on 23^rd and 24^th June, 2016. The planned outputs were met, as participants were able to discuss and strengthen the content; strengthen the visual impact of the atlas and identity case studies and hotspots. By the end of the meeting, the manuscript drafting team agreed to the comments submitted by participants which would once completed improve the content of the atlas and make it easy for planners to put to use.
