Five experts, a Special Advisor and a Gender Expert have been appointed to join GWP-SA-Africa Coordination Unit to boost the drive towards the SADC industrialization, job creation and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. Professor Amadou Hama MAIGA was one of the presenters during the 19th Congress of the African Water Association (AfWA) held in Bamako from 11 to 16 February 2018. “Sanitation and Integrated Water Resources Management -IWRM” was the topic of the communication made by GWP WA chair.

On Tuesday, June 27, 2017, an important training session was held for 25 young volunteers from the Côte d'Ivoire Country Water Partnership (PNECI) network. Ten years after its creation, PNECI is reassessing its IWRM strategy and decides to correct its approach, which has not really made much progress in the IWRM process at the national level.

During the 5^th Meeting of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Expert Group (WEG) in November 2015, a UfM Ministerial Conference on Water has been proposed to take place the first semester of 2017 in Malta. The technical process towards that was launched  with the WEG mandating a Drafting Group to elaborate on technical contents, in case the political partners decide to convene the suggested ministerial meeting.

The 22nd Regional Council (RC) Meeting of Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) and the Regional Workshop on Rapid Country Level Analysis were held back-to-back from 29-30 September and on 28 September 2016 respectively in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Her ties to the network run back all the way to its founding days, and over the years she has been involved in GWP project evaluations as a consult. She says the main challenge as a SC member is to have a global overview while still maintaining an understanding of the details.
