GWP Central Africa (GWP-CAf) carried out a working visit to the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) from 29 August to 01 September 2017 in Libreville, Gabon. The main objective of this visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two structures, which signed a Memorandum of Understanding in April 2017.
The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Natitingou Baobab, one of the partners of the TonFuturTonClimat project in Benin organized on 15 March 2019 an information and education session of its school clubs’ members of Yakabissi and Birini.
The 8th Assembly of Partners took place on 28-29 September 2017 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The theme of this AP was " Water Security in the ECOWAS in the context of SDGs implementation".
GWP WA is a member of the UNEP-DHI/GWP-WA consortium in charge of the mission to support the establishment of the ECOWAS Regional Water Observatory. A workshop was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 4 & 5 September 2018 with country focal points on data collection.
On November 1, 2018, GWP China was invited to the high-end seminar on Sustainable Urban Water Management under Climate Adaptation, co-sponsored by the Netherlands Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the World Resources Institute (WRI), in Beijing.
Aiming to foster youth involvement in the water and climate action in Mauritania, GWP-Med is organizing in collaboration with the Mauritanian NGO “AISER, Citoyenneté et Droits Humains” a training cycle composed of a series of three workshops targeting youth active in local NGOs. The workshops will be organized in the framework of the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) implemented in Mauritania by GWP-Med. At the end of the training workshops, participants’ capacities are expected to be enhanced in relation to climate change risks evaluation, adaptation actions identification and projects proposals formulation and funds leverage.
GWP China’s host institution, the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), celebrated its 60th anniversary with a week of academic sessions in Beijing, China. On 18 October, an international high-level forum was held on the topic of Modern Water Governance and Technological Innovation. Around 1000 guests were invited, including GWP representatives from its worldwide network.
Global Water Partnership Central and Eastern Europe releases the Compendium of Good Practices, which provides an overview of the outputs and accomplishments achieved within the Integrated Drought Management Programme in CEE in the period from 2013 to 2015.
In the face of profound global water challenges, on World Water Day 2018 five global multi-stakeholder partnerships representing business, governments, intergovernmental organisations, academia, and civil society organisations announced a new collaboration effort designed to accelerate progress toward ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation around the world. GWP co-organised the recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) HydroConference – the Global Conference for Prosperity through Hydrological Services – in Geneva, Switzerland. The event set out to create better interfaces between the providers of hydrological services and the users who need such services for a wide range of decision-making.
