In addition to implementing relevant outcomes of the HLPW, AIP will address the challenges defined by AfDB and AMCOW in the Africa Regional Report for the 8th Word Water Forum.
The “Regional Workshop on South-South Cooperation in Flood Management” was jointly organized by GWP China and GWPO, from December 14 to 16, 2015, in Guangdong, China.
The Slovak Drought Action Plan that includes preventive measures in a number of areas, specifically agriculture and forestry, urban landscape, water management, research and environmental education, is expected to be approved in Spring 2018.
Taking action in transboundary basins and reducing health impacts - this workshop aims to accelerate actions to address water scarcity and thereby reduce the related health, social, economic and environmental risks. It takes place in Geneva, Switzerland on 11-12 December.
Based on the concept of economy-wide interdependence, the AIP will - through the programme components on SDG 6 investments; Resilience; Project Preparation and Financing; and Water Governance-revitalise ongoing activities of the water community in Africa to realise the Africa Water Vision 2025 and consolidate the achievements to-date of those interventions. The Yellow River runs through nine provinces in China: Qinghai, Gansu, Sichuan, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong. The provinces have a common problem of water shortage that leads to water use disputes. For better cooperation between the provinces, the Yellow River Conservancy Commission (YRCC) makes the annual water allocation plans, water controlling scheme and a real-time water control.
The regional secretariat has organized on 2nd October 2017 a ceremony for the official transfer of services from the outgoing chair, Pr. Abel AFOUDA to the incoming one, Pr. Amadou Hama MAIGA.
