The Youth Scientific Conference on Water was held on 31 October 2018 at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Our global office, the Global Water Partnership (GWP) based in Stockholm, Sweden is looking for innovative and entrepreneurial professionals to fill the following two (2) positions:

GWP and Partners recently organised a one-day high level workshop in Stockholm, Sweden, to discuss gender equality and inclusion in water management, and set out a path forward for a range of influential stakeholders. This was the second part of a wider study on how to better address gender-equality and inclusion issues in water-related policies and programmes. The event was facilitated by Melita Grant of the Institute for Sustainable Futures - University of Technology of Sydney (ISF-UTS) in Australia. She talks us through the process.

Objective: To support countries to integrate water security and climate resilience – including reducing flood and drought risk – in development planning and decision-making processes, through enhanced technical and institutional capacity, as well as predictable financing and investments.

8 March marks International Women’s Day. The global theme for this year is “Time is Now: Rural and urban activities transforming women’s lives”. To celebrate this important day and highlight the theme, GWPEA interviewed Mrs. Sarah Mawerere, Environmental reporter and gender activist from Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC)and asked her the following question: Time is now for quality in water access and management! How can activism empower #WaterWomen?

GWP representatives are at the UNFCCC Climate Change Conference in Bonn, Germany, taking place 16-26 May. The focus is on GWP support for the implementation of the Paris Agreement, specifically in relation to the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from countries, the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) processes, South-South Cooperation, and financing. On Thursday 19 May GWP is co-organising a high level side event together with the Government of Morocco, the UNFCCC Secretariat Adaptation Programme, and GIZ.

The Gambia Country Water Partnership is a young partnership established in December 2011 and accredited in 2016. Among other things funding remains a major constraint. Inadequate and slow responses to proposals have delayed the implementation of planned programmes and the establishment of a more formal secretariat. But the Partnership continues to make efforts to mobilize resources to enable it carry out its activities

Wastewater is worth via treatment technique to be energies, resources or materials. It will be proved by marvelous cases reflecting how Chinese and Indian deal with their sewage, on Wednesday, 30 August, 14.00-15.30, in NL Music Hall Musiksalen, Stockholm, Sweden.

The Dialogue on “Governance and Financing of water projects in Lebanon: Private Sector Participation and the role of Banks in investments” was successfully launched on 27 March 2017, representing a strategic synergy of the UfM/Sida project “Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector” and the European Union funded project “Sustainable Water Integrated Management (SWIM)-Horizon 2020 Support Mechanism”.
