Since 2015, the Country Water Partnership of Benin (Benin CWP) initiated with the support of the Water Integrity Network (WIN) the development of a charter for good governance in the frame of the Multiannual Programme for the promotion of integrity in the area of water and sanitation in Benin. A working group with the support of a consultant led the drafting process of the Charter. From October 2015 to date, the Charter was developed, and stakeholders were consulted on its contents as well as its operationalization mechanism that was also developed.

 

The CWP has signed a convention with NGO AED for the implementation of the Integrated Drought Management Project (IDMP) demonstration pilot action in the country.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day (8 March), Global Water Partnership South Asia (GWP SAS) has interviewed women in the water community across the Network on their journey to become successful in their professions, how to overcome obstacles they face as women, and also recommendations to other women.

Global Water Partnership Mediterranean is seeking to hire a Financial Officer for its Athens Based Secretariat. The successful candidate will be hired by MIO- ECSDE, a civil non- profit society based in Greece.

Stemming from the realisation of the inherent linkages between governance and the mobilisation of financial resources for the water sector, the aim of the Governance & Financing for the Mediterranean Water Sector Project has been to diagnose related bottlenecks and identify plausible and realistic recommendations to help overcome them.

“Gender equity for a Water-Secure Future” was organized at the recent 7^th World Water Forum in Korea. The organizers, Women for Water Partnership (WfWP), wanted to highlight the importance of women and gender in the field of water, sanitation, and sustainable development.

On the occasion of World Water Day (22 March), GWP China hosted the 3^rd Regional Partners’ Meeting during which the new council members of GWP China were elected for a term of three years (2016-2018) in Beijing.

GWP Eastern Africa (GWPEA) Regional Project Manager for IDMP attended the 1st Africa Drought Conference (ADC) that was held on 15-19 August 2016 in Windhoek, Namibia. The theme of the conference was “Enhancing resilience to drought events on the African Continent”.
