Danka Thalmeinerova is Senior Knowledge Management Officer at the GWP global secretariat in Stockholm. She joined the global secretariat in 2008 but has a long history with GWP before that – both at regional and country level. In the on-going interview series to mark GWP’s 20^th Anniversary, Thalmeinerova speaks about her job: “I did not envisage how inspiring but challenging this would be.”

El Secretario General de las Naciones Unidas y el Presidente del Grupo del Banco Mundial convocaron un Grupo de Alto Nivel sobre el Agua (HLPW) en enero de 2016. Uno de sus principales objetivos es desarrollar un conjunto de principios compartidos para motivar y alentar a los gobiernos, las empresas y la sociedad civil a Considerar los múltiples valores del agua y guiar la incorporación transparente de estos valores en la toma de decisiones de los formuladores de políticas, las comunidades y las empresas. Se ha preparado un documento conceptual, "Valorar el agua: preámbulo y principios", como documento de discusión para consulta con las partes interesadas. Debido a su amplia y diversa red multipartita, se ha pedido a Global Water Partnership (GWP) que facilite las consultas regionales para apoyar el trabajo del HLPW en su contribución a su Plan de Acción (alineado con SDGs y otros acuerdos de alto nivel). Estas consultas crearán conciencia y examinarán la pertinencia a nivel regional / nacional de las perspectivas mundiales, y aportarán insumos, opciones y recomendaciones que mejorarán las resoluciones de la HLPW.

The Water Integrity Network (WIN) organized a one-day regional meeting in the premises of GWP WA on 22 February. It has been some ten years since WIN started its activities in West Africa in collaboration with GWP-WA, VBA, ECOWAS/WRCC and countries among others.

Celebrating the World Water Day in CACENA region has started before its date. Many events were held by GWP CACENA partners to raise awareness on water related problems.

Based on the concept of economy-wide interdependence, the AIP will - through the programme components on SDG 6 investments; Resilience; Project Preparation and Financing; and Water Governance-revitalise ongoing activities of the water community in Africa to realise the Africa Water Vision 2025 and consolidate the achievements to-date of those interventions. The Joint Support Programme for Integrated Water Resources Management (PCA-Gire) organized on 12 April 2018, in Bamako, a workshop on surface water quality in Mali. The workshop aimed at reflecting on the problem of river pollution in Mali by identifying the major polluters and innovative solutions to improve surface water quality in the country.
