The Global Water Partnership (GWP) launched its new Youth Engagement Strategy at Stockholm World Water Week on August 25^th, 2015. The youth strategy supports the wider GWP “Towards 2020” Strategy as does the GWP Gender Strategy, which was launched in August 2014. 

Over-exploitation of water resources, water regime modifications, water contamination, and a growing number of flood events—negative effects of which are amplified by climate change—are all issues that require harmonised, integrated actions from management authorities in countries that share river basins.

DriDanube (Drought Risk in the Danube Region) project is a 30-month project which started on 1 January 2017 within INTERREG’s Danube Transnational Programme.

Global Water Partnership (GWP) invites all Partners to its annual GWP Network Meeting on 1 June 2015. This year’s meeting will be held online - www.gwp.org - broadcast by live stream, with an opportunity to watch a taped version of the event afterwards.

GWP supports mandated institutions in designing and implementing water-related policies, legislation, action plans, strategies, and programmes based on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). GWP offers IWRM technical capacity development activities for officials and technical experts working in the field of water and environmental resources management. Examples include professionals working with river basin organisations, catchment agencies, national, and provincial/state governments. 

Global Water Partnership Southern Africa provided a Technical Assistance support to the Preparation of the Seychelles Integrated and Comprehensive Sanitation Master Plan from the 21^st to the 24^th March 2016

GWP PAN ASIA Workshop on ‘Innovative Urban Water Management’ is scheduled to be held on 14 and 15 July 2016 at Singapore PUB Water Hub, Singapore with the objective of promoting the exchange of experience and knowledge on innovative urban water management approaches in Asia, among the four GWP Regional Water Partnerships and key Asian Regional Organisations.

GWP Bulgaria organized the third National Consultation Dialogue on Drought during the World Water Day celebrations on 22 March 2016 in Sofia.

Africa in particular its sub Saharan part, is one of the most affected areas in the world regarding food insecurity (Africa 2014 report on hunger, IFPRI). The agricultural sector which food security and poverty reduction depends very much on in Africa is likely to be affected by climate change if no action is taken.  It is against that background that The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa held national consultations on water and food in Malawi and Lesotho on the 21^st of April 2016.
